The ride will officially start from Burneside Church at 0930 and pass through Bowston to collect those who park at our house. The first 10 miles will be quite hilly as we head for Kirkby Lonsdale for 11s. Lunch will be in Carnforth (via Burton in Kendal and Over Kellet) at the Brief Encounter café which was the location for the film.
After lunch we will take the coastal road around Silverdale and Arnside before heading for home. Total distance will be 55 miles.
Tea will be available in Bowston after the ride and the forecast is looking good - what could be better!
Hope to see you on Sunday

The Coveted CNC Award
Yeah verily a week past, did I throw down the gauntlet to that knave CJ, offering a prize if he would accept my terms of battle. These were that this wastrel would forsooth on my cycle ride one week hence (wot was today in gorgeous sunshine), refrain from uttering any verbal outpourings concerning the route with words akin to 'unnecessary hill', 'oh b----y hell, why are we going that way', 'I wouldn't go this sodding way', 'the pace is too fast', etc. etc. After suitable contemplation of his veritable two-tums for an eyeblink, my terms were agreed. The rascal of course invoked dastardly cheating by riding directly to 11's and departing 20 miles before the end, thus avoiding irritation of my lugholes for half of the chosen route. However, terms were fulfilled in that nary once did he utter (at least in my earshot - but if anyone knows differently, please comment) anything derogatory about my chosen (albeit occasionally mislaid) route. I doth however wish I had included omission of the words bovine, ovine and woo-woo as part of the terms....
.... and however indeed, his prize is to be mentioned in despatches to the hallowed echelons of EV, and to be here anointed with the covetous CNC award or to be rendered its full title, the Chris No Complaint award.

Ride Wed Oct 29th
Don't forget 11's at Renwick means 10.30 latest, as the ladies close up the church hall by 11 o'clock.
Wednesday forecast suggests cold but relatively dry, so hopefully better weather and photos than Janet's drowned rat mob at Silloth yesterday.
See some of you Wednesday either at the start chez moi for a prompt 9.30 getaway, or more likely riding directly to Renwick.

It goes along the River Eden on the Edenhall side and back past Edenhall church. Anyone who wishes is welcome to join her.

Club Ride Wednesday 15 October
The ride will start from the Village Hall in Burton in Kendal at 0930. As you may know, we have an arrangement with their Treasurer that we can use the car park at a cost of £1 per vehicle for the day. Cathy and I will collect the money and forward it accordingly.
The ride will be 63 miles and will head to Wray for 11s via Capernwray, Gressingham and Wennington. From there we will head out to Keasden Crossroads and head for Slaidburn for lunch via Bowland Knotts.
After lunch we will return via the Trough of Bowland. Jubilee Tower, Quernmore, Caton and Over Kellet.
The ride will be scenic and hilly, but there will be no brutal climbs. Currently the forecast is looking good, but if things change there will be options to modify the route.
Hope to see you on Wednesday,
Keith G.
