Some of our members have suggested that our
club should promote some shorter rides for new and returning
cyclists. I know as individuals we all encourage people to come and
‘have a go’ but perhaps the club could be a bit more active in
promoting the activity from which we all derive so much.
If
we are going to do this, we need your ideas about how to make it a
success:
-
Which days – Wednesdays and Sundays or a different day?
-
Where from? – could we use our existing knowledge from the Birthday rides and set off from Newton Rigg?
-
Should we link them to the ALT/coffee stop rides? A related question is whether our runs list is sufficiently clear about these rides.
-
How many people can we cater for?
-
How many miles should we travel?
-
Who is willing to lead?
Perhaps
the most important question of all is how do we advertise?
I
do not want this to be an exercise which we set up and no-one attends
and then we conclude there is no demand. Prior planning is essential
to its success. I would be grateful if you could pass on any ideas to
a member of the Committee – verbally or in writing, as you choose.
The
Committee will be meeting sometime during our post-Easter holiday
week at Ross Cottage. Your views on this – and any other matter –
are welcome.
