January Newsletter

There is a fantastic opportunity to have your Photos and even articles, thoughts ...  entered in the Newsletter as I am short on material (height too if it comes to that).
Please send them to me at  news@edenvalleyctc.org.uk .
Hope the weather is appealing to you, perhaps a good day to sort those thoughts and photos.

KEY TO ALTERNATIVES COLUMN

If you printed out your Runs List a few days ago, you may have noticed that the key for the alternative meeting points was incomplete. Geoff has now amended the Runs List so it will now show the complete key. However, below is a summary of the key just in case you are still in doubt: A = Abbot Lodge; S = Farm Shop, Stainton; C = Coral Cafe, Plumpton; P = Pooley Bridge; M = Mill Restaurant, Morland.

Ride from Keswick 29 Jan

Although the weather looks good for the ride I notice that the road is officially closed up Winlatter from Braithwaite due to tree felling.
It may be passable to cycles - but just a warning that we may have to plan a different route. (Newlands?)
I would hope to get to the Kirkstile Inn for lunch one way or another.

New Runs List

Here is a link to the New Runs List - it is also on the website as is a version of the old one which will come down on Wednesday.
Don't forget to download the file then print it rather than trying to print it from your browser - you get a cleaner version!
Thanks to CJ for all his hard work. (and to those offering the rides!)

Club Ride Sunday 26 January

The forecast for tomorrow isn't great but the ride will go ahead. If it is really bad we can modify the route although at the moment the afternoon is looking better than the morning.  The route returns via the Windermere Ferry.

Room for some parking on our drive with hot showers and tea available at the end of the ride.

Hope to see you hardy cyclists tomorrow!

Cathy.

Club Ride Wednesday 22nd January.
I stated in my previous Blog that I had changed the venue for 11's on Wednesday. We will now be having 11's at Greystone House. Farmshop and Tearoom, Stainton.
For the benefit of those travelling directly to the cafe, the Farmshop and Tearoom is at one of the crossroads in Stainton.
Travelling in from the Penrith end---continue through the village and Greystone House is at the crossroads and on the right.
Travelling in from Newbiggin---leave Newbiggin and ride down to the A66. Do not cross the main road but turn left onto the cycle way. At the end of the cycle way turn right under the A66 and the shop and cafe is on the right.

The proposed lunch spot (Cup and Saucer, Seaville, Silloth) is closed so lunch will now be at the Highland Laddie, Glasson.  I phoned and they can provide chips and other snacks or meals.  Or of course bring your own.

Hope to see you tomorrow even if it is just a cycle for 11's at our house. John will be in for those coming straight here.

Club Ride. Wednesday 22nd January

My plans for the club ride on the 22nd January have run into a problem because it was my intention to have 11's at the Upfront Gallery at Unthank. When I planned the ride the cafe at the Gallery was due to reopen after a post Christmas break on 18th January but now the date has moved to 25th January. I have therefore decided to move the 11's venue to the Farm Shop at Stainton. Other details of the ride are unchanged. I will post another reminder on the blog a little nearer the time.
Ernest.

Wednesday 8 January Ride.

The ride tomorrow will officially start from Burneside church where there is room for parking. However, there is room on our drive for approx. 5 cars with additional space on the close for a couple of cars.

The forecast is good but we do have options to shorten the route if the weather turns nasty. The planned route will be approx. 45 miles.

Refreshments will be available after the ride - hope to see you tomorrow.
